Bo Wang appointed chief AI scientist at University Health Network

has been appointed the chief artificial intelligence scientist of University Health Network (UHN), Canada鈥檚 largest network of research hospitals.  

An assistant professor at the University of Toronto鈥檚 海角视频 of Computer Science and 海角视频 of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, Wang focuses his research on machine learning and computational biology.  

He is stepping into the role after the launch of the earlier this year, which envisions more accessible, efficient and personalized health care through the integration of AI technologies. 

Wang will lead research into how AI can use vast amounts of anonymized patient data collected from the Toronto area鈥檚 diverse population to improve care, according to The Canadian Press. In an interview with the news agency, he said he is looking to explore various AI applications, including the development of personalized treatment plans and automated generation of clinical notes. 

鈥淭he goal is to promote adoption of AI in health care,鈥 Wang said in an interview. 鈥淲e have lots of research but adoption is quite rare, and I want to change that.鈥
